Our Management Referrals are designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s current health status, assessing their ability to continue working safely or return to work. Typically initiated by employees or management, these referrals aim to address both physical and mental well-being concerns.

As an Occupational Health provider, we offer an impartial assessment, delivering factual information and valuable advice. Our primary objective is to prioritise the safety and well-being of employees while minimising any adverse effects work may have on their health.

Our highly skilled specialists, including Occupational Health Physicians (OHPs), Occupational Health Advisors (OHAs) and Occupational Therapists (OTs) conduct thorough evaluations as part of our Management Referral assessments. They possess the expertise to provide comprehensive support and guidance to employees in need.

Management referrals

Management referrals may be used to:

  • Assess a person’s fitness to work
  • Assess whether a person can perform a certain job
  • Assess whether a person is eligible for ill-health retirement
  • Assess whether an employee can return to work following pro-longed sickness

 

Management Referral Report

Our management referral reports provide an extensive evaluation of an individual’s health, offering impartial expert opinions, factual insights, and actionable recommendations. These reports prioritise safety, well-being, and employee support, enabling employers to make informed decisions and implement necessary measures where possible.

 

Our Procedure

We have developed a user-friendly online occupational health dashboard called ‘Orchid’ as part of our service. This platform is completely free to use and provides a convenient way for you to refer employees for management referral assessments and health surveillance. It also allows you to track the status of the referral and access associated reports.

Here’s how the process works:

  1. Online Dashboard: Access our Orchid dashboard to refer employees for management referral assessments. This intuitive platform makes it easy for you to keep track of the referral’s progress and access important reports.
  2. Referral Triage: Once you submit the referral and provide any specific questions or concerns, our dedicated referral team will carefully review the information. They will then determine the most suitable assessment for the employee, ensuring that their needs are met effectively.
  3. Assessment Guidance and Costs: We will promptly provide guidance on the recommended assessment and the associated costs. This transparent approach enables you to make well-informed decisions regarding the employee’s health management.
  4. Approval and Booking: Upon receiving your approval, whether through a purchase order (PO) number or a name, we will offer you the earliest available appointment slot for the assessment.
  5. Timely Report Delivery: You can expect to receive a comprehensive report within 48 hours of the assessment taking place. This quick turnaround time allows you to promptly access the findings and recommendations, empowering you to take appropriate actions for the employee’s well-being.

 

Consent and additional information

Consent is of utmost importance in the management referral process, both ethically and legally. It establishes trust, encourages collaboration, and ensures the reliability of assessments. Respecting privacy rights and involving employees in decision-making empowers them to take charge of their health.

In certain cases, we may need to request a medical report from the employee’s treating GP or specialist. This report provides valuable information to our staff during the management referral assessment, enhancing the accuracy and effectiveness of our evaluations.
