How AcornHq Works

You own an iPod (or maybe an iPhone) and you care about your impact on the environment. AcornHq helps you, with others, to plant a tree to help offset the carbon emissions associated with your iPod.

You offset your iPod by joining one of our trees. You can put your tree on your blog or website and you'll see the tree fill up with leaves as more people join it.

When enough people have joined together on an AcornHq tree, we plant a tree in New Zealand's South Island to offset their iPods. Trees are excellent systems for extracting and absorbing atmospheric carbon dioxide. See why in our FAQ.

Your trees are planted at Blockhill, a tree planting project in North Canterbury run by Olmec Sinclair. Here is the planting farm on Google Maps:

There we plant oak tree (acorns!). Throughout the tree's life they are pruned and maintained to reduce the risk of fire hazards. When the tree reaches the end of it's life, the plan is for any timber produced by the trees to go into community housing projects.
